Coming from a wealthy family in China, Yien was spoiled from the start. His parents both work reputable jobs, his mother being a lawyer while his father is the CEO of a prominent business. However, their son’s passion has always lied elsewhere. Being artistic from a young age, he was always captivated by various forms of art — to this day, his mother still brags about some of Yien’s artworks hung around on the walls of their luxurious home. At the recommendation of his father, Yien moved to South Korea to learn the language and attend Seoul’s University of the Arts.

His background never got to his head. It’s quite the opposite, he appears as a more reserved person at first — until you get to know him. He’s sort of like a ticking time bomb. Once he gets comfortable, he’s unpredictable. He’s a people-pleaser who loves company, especially of likeminded people.

Who else to get tutoring from to get into your dream school if not someone who already goes there? While it’s generally frowned upon to fall for a teacher, it didn’t stop Yien from doing just that — promising the girl that he’d get into SUA in order to win her heart.

As his childhood best friend and occasional roommate, Juliette is an important person in Yien’s life. She’s kept him company on the best and the worst days, and although they bicker a lot, he welcomed her with open arms when she also decided to move to South Korea.
